Experience
Five decades across systems programming, technical writing, Silicon Valley engineering, nonprofit publishing, and now AI consulting.
Professional History
The thread running through every position in my career is the same: I build things, fix things, and help people understand complex systems. That hasn't changed.
Engaged with computing from 1976 onward. Bought first personal computer in 1977 (16K RAM). By 1979 was writing I/O device drivers and operating system code — at a time when most people had never touched a computer.
Produced documentation for complex technical systems — user manuals, system documentation, API references, and training materials. Developed the discipline of making difficult technical content clear and useful for human readers.
Managed enterprise systems environments, analyzed workflows and technical requirements, and served as the bridge between business needs and technical implementation across a range of industries.
Pre-sales engineering at NCD in Silicon Valley — working with enterprise clients to evaluate, configure, and demonstrate networked computing solutions at the cutting edge of what was then possible. Required deep technical knowledge and strong client communication.
Contract work at one of the world's leading telecommunications companies during the height of the internet era — supporting complex technical documentation and systems work in a demanding enterprise environment.
Designed, built, and maintained the web presence for a North Carolina nonprofit — the beginning of a long engagement with mission-driven organizations and the practical realities of technology on constrained budgets.
Wrote Python and PHP code, produced EPUBs, and created digital distributions of Scripture in Arabic, Farsi, and Turkish for readers across the Middle East and Central Asia. Brought together technical skills, linguistic sensitivity, and deep mission commitment in a single role.
Bringing five decades of hands-on technical experience to AI strategy, implementation, and consulting. Active in the AI Consultant Certification Program (AI Innovision) and working daily with six AI platforms. Serving clients across the Carolinas and nationwide.
Graduate-level study in Linguistics — providing a deep foundation in how people communicate, how cultures adopt and resist change, and how language shapes understanding. This background informs every client engagement: technology is only as useful as people's ability to understand and use it.
Currently enrolled in a rigorous AI consulting certification program — staying current with a field that evolves weekly. Completed Anik Singal's Make My Clone Challenge twice. Active participant in multiple AI business communities and summits.
